Research

Jake is a 2nd year PhD student primarily studying how additive friction stir deposition effects precipitates in high strength lightweight materials. These materials are already used in the aerospace industry; a comprehensive understanding of the interplay of dynamic precipitation and dynamic recrystallization in additive friction stir deposition could enable the manufacturing of parts with unique microstructure and excellent mechanical properties, along with unique geometry and less material waste.
