Research

Brett's research is focused on detecting and understanding defects in parts printed with additive friction stir deposition. He is leveraging modal analysis as a non-destructive testing method to determine if a part has a defect, and he is working on a solution to conduct the modal analysis in situ (during printing). He is also using finite element analysis (FEA) to develop a model that can predict the material properties of a printed part with a defect.
